Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers.
At Newtown, the Pupil Premium Grant is used in a variety of ways depending on the needs of the children receiving the grant.
We usually use the money fund Teaching Assistant support either in the classroom or delivering interventions on a one to one or small group basis. If appropriate, interventions provide an excellent way of supporting children in making accelerated progress in their learning. The effectiveness of interventions is monitored by our SEN coordinator. We also use the funding to offer Nurture sessions, when this is appropriate, and we have two qualified nurture workers.
The Pupil Premium Grant can also be used to support families with the cost of additional activities both in and outside of school such as our residential trip to Shortenills Environmental Centre, school trips, clubs or swimming / activities at the local leisure centre. These opportunities are important in providing a rich and varied educational experience for the child supporting their holistic development.
If you think your child may be eligible for the grant, please complete the form and return it to school, this is open to children of all ages.
