Music
Intent
Music has the power to connect with and influence people. Music has the ability to deeply affect our emotional health and raise our mood. It can give us energy and motivation; it can soothe us, encourage us; and re-inspire us. Music plays an integral role in helping children to feel part of a community; therefore we provide opportunities for all children to create, play, perform and enjoy music both in class and to an audience.
We are aware that music can help to develop listening skills, collaboration, concentration, self-control, problem solving, patience and adaptability. We are committed to ensuring children understand the value and importance of music in the wider community and can use their musical skills, knowledge, and experiences to involve themselves in music, in a variety of different contexts as well as developing a curiosity for the subject, and an understanding of the importance of all types of music.
