Thinking and Learning Skills
Learning how to think and learn is a vital lifelong skill and has a variety of underlying skills that can be modelled, taught and practised. At Newtown we focus on these skills to ensure the children are meeting their potential and are ready to move on to the next stage in the learning and development. Skills are usually modelled and brought up as the need arises in class however specific work is done every year and in every group on the development of a growth mindset. Weekly Philosophy for Children sessions in Year 1 and 2 enable the children to develop many of the relevant thinking skills.
