Special Educational Needs
At Newtown, we ensure that all pupils are equally valued by having equal access to a broad and balanced curriculum which is differentiated as far as possible to meet individual needs and abilities.
Newtown uses the money it receives for Special Education Needs flexibly throughout the school, funding staff to run proven interventions and ensuring that there is additional support in all the classes. Support is rarely on a one to one basis, even for children with Education and Health Care Plans and is more usually in a group situation to foster independent learning skills.
Newtown’s Special Education Needs provision and support is led by Mr D. Rose, our Deputy Headteacher, who is also the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator.
